FYI: Boating Regulations/Permits/Operator Information

Every year, thousands of boating enthusiasts take to the waterways of North Carolina to fish, sail, water ski, and pursue other vessel-based recreation. To make certain that the public is safe, responsible, and free to enjoy boating activities throughout the state, the Wildlife Resources Commission enforces laws and regulations that all should observe. This site provides a single resource for obtaining all the facts you need to know.
On or after May 1, 2010 any person under the age of 26 must successfully complete a NASBLA approved boating education course before operating any vessel propelled by a motor of 10 HP or greater. G.S. 75A-16.2
Brought up during the Person County RT.

2009 Merit Badge College

February 2009

A couple of merit badge counselors asked:

Scoutmasters - please have your scouts make sure they have completed the prerequisite requirements before they come to the merit badge college. Mainly going to a public meeting for communications and citizenship in the community. The counselors use class time to review these requirements and if they are not complete it makes it hard on them.
Thanks,
Tom
