Fall Family Encampment - Fall Camporee - 2009 Spring Camporee
Fall Family Encampment
The Fall Family Encampment will be held the weekend of September 27-28 at Cherokee Scout Reservation. Terri Felder is the Director. More details will be forthcoming.
The cost of the event will be $6 per person with a maximum of $24 per family. The theme is “the sky's the limit”. Activities will include archery, crafts, and games. Other activities will include a raptor presentation, a weatherman, and an astronomy group.
Fall Camporee
The Fall Camporee will be held the weekend of October 24-26 on the property of B.G. Lewis on the Mayfield Road in Ruffin. The theme of the camporee is “Be Prepared”. Willie Ore is the Camporee Chief.
On Saturday morning, each troop will participate in a klondike derby. The derby course will have several stations that will have the Scouts complete “challenges”. Each challenge will involve basic Scouting skills.
The Scouts will need to stock their Klondike derby sled with the equipment that they feel they will need to us on the challenges.
On Saturday afternoon, Scouts will be able to attend a shooting safety class and shoot shotguns. Also, a wilderness first aid demonstration will be held.
The cost of the camporee is $5 per person.
2009 Spring Camporee
The 2009 Spring Camporee will be held the weekend of March 13 – 15 at Cherokee Scout Reservation. Larry Parker and Tom Gold will be planning the events. Backpacking the perimeter trail at camp will be the main activity.
